CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIRST GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT WAVERLY NOBLE!

AUGUST 4, 2018

Waverly Noble is a senior at Millbrook High School. She is an active member in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, an academically rigorous path that focuses on world-mindedness. While taking college-level courses, Waverly is still a strong leader in her choir program. She is enjoying her second year in the Madrigals Benefit Concert in the upcoming year. Her love of performing is also shared through Millbrook's theatre productions.
Waverly hopes to major in music therapy in college. This scholarship ($1,000) will aid her in preparing for the college audition process with a private voice teacher and continuing to learn how to play the piano.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SECOND 2019 GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT OLIVIA DENBO!

AUGUST 4, 2019

Olivia Denbo is a rising senior at Millbrook Highschool where she is active in the choir program. She is also involved in theater as an assistant stage manager. In between balancing a rigorous course load and part-time job,Olivia enjoys reading, playing the guitar, and volunteering.  Olivia is incredibly active in her church community, where she teaches Sunday school and serves on the Missions Committee. 
Olivia plans to major in vocal music education in college. This scholarship will enable her to take private voice and piano lessons to prepare for college auditions and her future career.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR THIRD GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT SHREYAN KANCHARIA!

AUGUST 4, 2021

Shreyan is an 8th grader at Carnage GT/AIG Magnet middle school, where he plays the violin in the Triangle Youth Orchestra, as well as the Honors strings program at Carnage Middle.
Shreyan has started a website with his brother as a way of sharing his strings experience with his community and provides virtual lessons for those new to strings to help them better their base skills. He plans on spending his summer playing his violin in retirement homes in order to spread the joy of music to the residents there.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FOURTH GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT NISHIKA GANDHIRAJ!

JUNE 22, 2022

Nishika Gandhiraj is a rising 8th grader at Carnage GT/AIG Magnet middle school, she developed a love for the violin at age 7 when she realized a new way to express her feelings. She has been playing the violin for 6 years and currently she is 1st violin principal in her advanced orchestra class. During her time in middle school, she has performed in multiple concerts. During the summer of her 8th grade year, she wishes to conduct private lessons for beginners and spread the joy of music with her community. Apart from orchestra she enjoys reading, volunteering, and dancing. She plans to become a scientist when she grows up, but she will never stop loving and playing her instrument!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR FIFTH GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT SYDNEY THOMPSON!

OCTOBER 12, 2023

Sydney Thompson is a senior at Millbrook High School. She has been a member of the advanced singing ensemble, Millbrook Madrigals, for two years, as well as an active participant in dance and theatre. At the young age of 5, she joined the youth choir at her church, which began her love for music. Sydney instantly loved the feeling of performing in front of others and jumped at any opportunity to share her vocal gift with the world. She continues to develop her musical ability, by taking voice and piano lessons weekly. After graduation, Sydney plans to major in Nursing, but will continue pursuing her love for music.


This scholarship will allow Sydney the opportunity to attend an annual school choir trip and experience varied musical performances.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SIXTH GJD SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT HAZEL HENDERSON!

Hazel Henderson is a junior at Millbrook High School. She is a member of the Millbrook Madrigals.

She participates in choral music and musical theatre both inside and outside of school. She is honored to be surrounded by people who are as passionate about singing as she is.

​Hazel wants to study vocal music in college and plans on taking masterclasses and voice lessons to learn new techniques and hone her vocal gifts. Her dream is to become a vocal teacher or children's choir director to help those who do not have access to private voice teachers or outside of school theatre programs.

​

This scholarship will allow Hazel to attend a chorus masterclasses with her choir in Gatlinburg that will be equal part community service and education based.
